Temple St Clair was born in Virginia and grew up adventuring throughout the world. She went on deep-sea expeditions with explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau, trekked through Mayan ruins in the Yucatán and studied literature in northern Italy, where she discovered her professional calling. Temple St. Clair founded her company in 1986 in Florence, Italy, beginning her collaboration with the world's finest goldsmiths - the centuries-old Florentine goldsmiths' guild.
